Alcaidesa Golf

The Alcaidesa golf course is situated only 15 minutes from Gibraltar, is extremely close to Sotogrande, San Roque, Valderrama and Almenara and is one of the finest golfing holiday areas of Spain. With the new motorway this area is now easily accessible from all locations along the coast.
Alcaidesa golf is a spectacular course with astounding sea views. Its amazing layout borders the beach amidst hills and natural vegetation.

Whilst playing it, there is no way to escape the silent presence of the majestic rock of Gibraltar and the Atlas mountains of Africa which mark the distant horizon.
This is the only 18 hole links course in the country and an experience that cannot be found anywhere else in Spain. Good fairways and immaculate greens make for a challenging course for all handicap levels. The course, designed by Peter Allis and Clive Clark, opened in 1992, and has been the setting for three Spanish PGA events; and in 1997, when the Ryder Cup was at nearby Valderrama, it co-hosted the first junior match between European and American youngsters.

It has been classified a links course because of its location on the coastline and because you need to know how to handle the wind. However, the type of soil, layout and breadth of the landing areas are well suited to players of all ages and abilities who are looking for a good day's golfing without having to bend the ball one way or the other

A second course and new clubhouse are planned for 2007.
